Cavitation control using passive flow control techniques

چکیده

Passive flow control techniques, and particularly vortex generators have been used successfully in a broad range of aero- hydrodynamics applications to alter the characteristics boundary layer separation. This study aims review how such techniques can mitigate extent impact cavitation incompressible flows. focuses first on characterize key physical principles. It then considers complete passive technologies, including surface conditioning roughness, geometry modification, grooves, discharge, injection, obstacles, generators, bubble generators. The reviewed typically delay suppress separation by decreasing pressure gradient at point. literature also identifies streamwise vortices that result transfer momentum from free stream near-wall low energy regions. area interest concerns hydraulic machinery, whose performance life span are susceptible cavitation. includes reduction efficiency fluctuations discharge flow, while greatly increase wear bearings, wearing rings, seals, impeller surfaces due excessive vibration erosion. In context, few studies shown positive effects controls centrifugal pumps, as total head efficiency. is conceivable new generation design systems may be possible if simple features conceived maximize power minimize losses There still, however, significant research gaps understanding factors manufacturing processes, lifetime, durability, essentially static optimized deliver improved over realistic operating conditions.

Analysis of a Passive Flow Control Device via Flow Visualization Techniques

This report details an experiment done to verify the effectiveness of a passive flow control system on a two-dimensional bluff body, blunt trailing edge model in controlling wake dimension and Karman vortex sheds. An earlier experiment by Park, et.al. [1] performed analysis via wind tunnel pressure testing and computerized model to determine the ideal proportions of such a tab design and identi...

Control of Nozzle Flow Using Microjets at Supersonic Mach Regime

This article reports the active control of base flows using the experimental procedure. Active control of base pressure helps in reducing the base drag in aerodynamic devices having suddenly expanded flows. Active control in the form of microjets having 0.5 mm radius placed at forty-five degrees apart is employed to control the base pressure. The Mach numbers of the present analysis are 1.7, 2....

abstract biometric access control is an automatic system that intelligently provides the access of special actions to predefined individuals. it may use one or more unique features of humans, like fingerprint, iris, gesture, 2d and 3d face images. 2d face image is one of the important features with useful and reliable information for recognition of individuals and systems based on this ...

Experimental Studies of Active and Passive Flow Control Techniques Applied in a Twin Air-Intake

The flow control in twin air-intakes is necessary to improve the performance characteristics, since the flow traveling through curved and diffused paths becomes complex, especially after merging. The paper presents a comparison between two well-known techniques of flow control: active and passive. It presents an effective design of a vortex generator jet (VGJ) and a vane-type passive vortex gen...
